Strongbow Exploration Inc. (SBW: TSXV) is pleased to announce the start of exploration at the recently acquired Parker gold mine property, North Carolina. Initial work will include geochemical surveys, followed by ground geophysics and a drilling program in June 2011. Geochemical surveys will evaluate undisturbed areas of the property, including a strong multi-element geochemical anomaly located at the Crystal Hill target area, approximately 600 m (2000 ft) along strike to the southwest of the historic workings.
The geochemical program will also include an evaluation of a 500 acre property covering prospective geology approximately 600 metres north of the historic Barringer mine, one of the Gold Hill district's most important past producers and the location of North Carolina's first discovered gold-bearing quartz veins.
The Parker gold mine is located within the Gold Hill mining district of the Carolina Slate Belt, approximately 30 km south of the Champion Hills trend currently being explored by Revolution Resources (RV:TSX) and Romarco Minerals (R:TSX). Gold Hill is the most productive gold producing region of North Carolina with estimated past production of at least 160,000 ounces. The Parker mine property consists of approximately 300 acres zoned for heavy industrial use including a mining permit issued by the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Please see Strongbow news release dated March 15, 2011 for details.
An initial exploration drilling program at Strongbow's Midway gold project, located within the Haile-Brewer gold trend of South Carolina, is scheduled to commence in the next two weeks.
Strongbow's 2011 exploration programs are conducted under the supervision of David Gale, P.Geo. (BC), Vice-President of Exploration for Strongbow and a qualified person under NI 43-101.
