Strongbow Identifies Ten Geochemical Targets at Midway Gold Project, South Carolina

Strongbow Exploration Inc. (SBW: TSXV) is pleased to provide an update on exploration activities at its Midway gold project located in South Carolina, USA. Highlights include:

  • Results have been received for over 1,000 geochemical samples collected during the 2010 field program;
  • Ten discrete, multi-element geochemical anomalies have been identified within the Midway properties and represent priority targets for further evaluation in 2011;
  • Seven of the targets are located within the main Midway project area, including a robust 500 m by 300 m anomaly that is coincident with altered volcanic and sedimentary rocks exposed in streambeds;
  • Exploration is scheduled to recommence in early February with drilling planned to start in March 2011.

Initial results have been received for over 1,000 of approximately 1,300 geochemical samples collected from October through December 2010, including results covering approximately 90 percent of the Midway project properties. Ten discrete multi-element geochemical anomalies have been identified, including seven anomalies located within three kilometres along strike from Romarco's Haile gold mine property.

Geochemical surveys were completed on a nominal 100 m by 100 m grid and each of the ten anomalies has been defined by a minimum of five sample stations anomalous in gold plus various combinations of associated pathfinder elements including Mo, As, S, Pb, Cu and Zn. The highest priority target includes seven soil samples returning between 107 and 308 ppb gold and covers a 500 m by 300 m area coincident with previously described hydrothermally altered volcanic and sedimentary rocks exposed in local stream beds (please see Strongbow news release #10-07 dated October 21, 2010).

Remaining results from the 2010 exploration program are expected by mid-February, 2011 including final data from an airborne geophysical survey and geochemical surveys of over 4,000 acres of prospective private property to which the Company has secured permission to access.

Exploration of the Midway project is scheduled to recommence in early February. Initial work will consist of follow-up geochemical and ground geophysical surveys and drilling. Geochemical surveys will include infill sampling of identified targets, as well as regional work intended to identify new prospective areas within the Carolina Slate Belt. Ground geophysics will include magnetic and induced-polarization (IP) surveys of the highest priority target areas. An exploration drilling program is scheduled for March 2011.

About the Midway gold project

The Midway project consists of approximately 2,375 acres within the prospective, 16 kilometre (10 mile) Haile-Brewer gold trend in South Carolina. Most of the properties are located between Romarco Minerals Inc.'s (R: TSX) Haile gold mine and Buzzard exploration properties. Current measured and indicated resources reported by Romarco for the Haile gold mine consist of 3.1 million ounces gold with additional inferred resources of 1.1 million ounces gold. Gold mineralization at the Haile mine, as well as at the nearby past producing Brewer mine, is hosted within volcanic and sedimentary rocks of the Carolina Slate Belt (CSB). A preliminary evaluation of the Midway project area has identified several geological characteristics reportedly associated with mineralization at the Haile and Brewer gold deposits. Strongbow is also working to identify and acquire additional gold targets within the Carolina Slate Belt,

About Strongbow Exploration Inc.

Strongbow is exploring for gold deposits within the Carolina Slate Belt of the southeastern United States, as well as magmatic nickel-copper sulphide deposits along the Snowbird Tectonic Zone in central Canada. Strongbow's management and board of directors have a proven track record of exploration success and a demonstrated ability to raise the capital required to finance its exploration programs.

All geochemical samples were submitted to Acme Analytical Laboratories in Vancouver, British Columbia. They were analyzed using either a 36 or 53 element ICP mass spectrometer package, using either a 0.5g or 15g sample size and an aqua regia digestion. A quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) program is in place, with the insertion of standard, blank and field duplicate samples into the sample stream to confirm the accuracy of the reported results. Strongbow's exploration programs are conducted under the supervision of David Gale, P.Geo.(BC), Vice-President of Exploration for Strongbow and a qualified person under NI 43-101.
